The National Conservation Law was passed in the Legislative Assembly with the unanimous support of all Members present (only two were unavoidably absent due to the extended-time lateness of the meeting close.) Section 1(2) of the Law states that “this Law shall come into force on such date as may be appointed by order made by the Cabinet”. The Department of Environment expects this to happen as soon as possible after the first sitting of the Legislative Assembly in 2014 to give time for necessary preparations to be made.
The Bill and other information are available on the DoE website, http://doe.ky/laws/national-conservation-law/, and questions on the Bill can be sent directly to the Department of Environment, [email protected], for answers.
Though an official list of approved amendments to the Law is still pending, local media have carried the draft list of amendments to the Bill, for public reference: http://www.caymannewsservice.com/politics/2013/12/18/ncl-be-force-january#attachments
