DoE Advisory: Coral Disease Spread & Decontamination Recommended

The deadly Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) has spread approx. 2 miles westward but has not yet breached the DoE managed ‘firewall’. The advisory provides more details of the disease impacted areas and how to decontaminate gear used in the water to prevent the risk of further transmission of the disease to other areas, especially if you snorkel the reefs in the North Sound. There is also additional information on how to report potential sightings of the disease in other areas. For more information or if you have any questions, contact DoE at doe@gov.ky or 949‐8469.
