Heavy Equipment Hatchling Warning

We are currently in peak sea turtle nesting season! Reminder: you must check with the Department of Environment (DoE) BEFORE bringing heavy equipment and vehicles onto the beach to clear debris. Heavy machinery and vehicles can collapse turtle nests and crush hatchling sea turtles and their nests. All sea turtles and their nests are protected by law and harming a sea turtle, hatchling sea turtle or their nests (even accidentally) is an offence under the National Conservation Act. Contact the DoE at to check for nests before bringing machinery/vehicles onto the beach. Also, do not rake over any turtle activity or tracks (see photo). To report any turtle activity please message the DoE’s 24-hour Turtle Hotline at 938-NEST (6378) with a photo and pin location. Thank you for helping protect our islands’ sea turtle nesting population!
