The Marine Turtle Beach Monitoring programme relies heavily on the support of committed volunteers throughout the summer.
What: Volunteers and interns help DoE staff find, mark, monitor and protect turtle nests on beaches around the Cayman Islands.
When: With DoE staff: weekdays from 6 a.m. to late morning or early afternoon, May to November (this is a great summer experience for university students). Volunteers can also monitor beaches on their own time – before or after work or on weekends – and report nests to DoE.
Who: Adults, university students, and mature high school students who live in the Cayman Islands (other opportunities are available for school groups/children – contact us for more information.
