The National Conservation Council (NCC) is inviting the public to review and provide comments on the proposal to protect Crown parcels at the north-eastern end of Cayman Brac as the Cayman Brac Lighthouse National Park.
The parcels proposed for protection include Crown parcels 111A 73, 111A 72, 111A 4, 111A 3, 111A 71, 111A 70, 111A 5, 111E 220, and subdivision parcels 111A 13-68. The already protected NCC parcel 111A 11 is included within the overall National Park footprint.

The proposed area totals 211.66 acres and covers Crown lands associated with the Lighthouse Trail, Lighthouse parcel, Long Beach, the adjacent Bluff face, Little Cayman Brac and the Peter’s Outlook. Peter’s Cave itself is not included within the proposed Protected Area. Access points to the proposed Park are provided through three main roads: Major Donald Drive, Peter’s Road and Spot Bay Road.
The Cayman Brac eastern Bluff and Long Beach are among the most iconic and most visited natural landscapes in the Cayman Islands. This proposal for the Bluff Lighthouse National Park is intended to protect the Bluff formation and its unique species while keeping the area open for managed public access and recreation.
The scenic Lighthouse Trail and the picturesque Long Beach footpath will be preserved and enhanced for recreational and educational activities by residents, students and visitors, with the broader area kept in its natural state for current and future generations to enjoy.
The proposed Park includes cliff, bluff-top shrubland and coastal shrubland habitats supporting species of high conservation value. The landscape is home to nesting Brown Boobies and White-tailed Tropicbirds, Sybil’s Crownbeard growing along the Bluff face, bats, Silver Thatch Palms, Cayman Agave, Sister Islands Rock Iguanas and many other species associated with the eastern Bluff landscape.
