Length 15.5-18cm (6-7″). Common breeding resident in the three Cayman Islands. Prefers dry or coastal woodland and shrubland. Often nests inside bromeliads. Our local subspecies, Elaenia martinica caymanensis is endemic: found only in the Cayman Islands and nowhere else in the world. Not to be confused with similarly common La Sagra’s Flycatcher, which lacks the Elaenia’s white crest.
