Great Egret

Length 89-107cm (35-42″). Regular winter visitor and passage migrant to the Cayman Islands. Prefers freshwater ponds, mangrove lagoons and fringing reefs. This is a large bird, not to be confused with our other much smaller white egrets, which are about half the size. The Great Egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society – one of the oldest environmental organisations in the States.
