Length 69-81cm (27-32″). Occasional winter visitor to the Cayman Islands, usually immature birds, in both light and dark colour phases. Prefers mangroves, lagoons and shorelines. An active feeder, dashing to-and-fro with neck extended and wings raised, twisting and turning in pursuit of prey.
