Ruddy Turnstone

Length 21-23cm (8-9″). Common winter visitor and passage migrant to the Cayman Islands. There is also a non-breeding resident population at the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman. Prefers beaches, lagoons and inland wetlands. Takes its name from its habit of turning over shoreline stones (and seaweed) with its bill, in search of food.
