Semipalmated Sandpiper Flying

Length 14-16.5cm (5.5-6.5″). Uncommon winter visitor and passage migrant to the Cayman Islands, though occasionally present in flocks of 50-100 birds. Prefers sandy shores, lagoons, pond edges and secondary swamp. “Palmated” means webbed: the Semipalmated Sandpiper taking its name from the short webs between its toes.
