Northern Harrier

Length 46-61cm (18-24″). Uncommon passage migrant and rare winter visitor to the Cayman Islands. Flys with wings held in a shallow “V”. Low and silent over open land, coastal mangrove, lagoons and secondary swamp. Feeds mainly on small mammals and birds, though it will also take larger prey – which it has occasionally been observed to subdue by drowning.
