World Environment Day Event, 2009

The Department of Environment is hosting a “World Environment Day Happy Hour” on Friday, 5th June 2009 from 4.30-6.30pm on the Glass House Lawn. In keeping with the World Environment Day 2009 theme “Your Planet Needs You – Unite to Combat Climate Change”, the Department will be launching the first part of a series of guides on reducing the environmental impact of office operations in the Cayman Islands at the event.

The first in the “Reducing Your Office Footprint” series focuses on reducing your office energy footprint through energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy technology to in turn decrease the amount of carbon dioxide produced, a greenhouse gas contributing to global warming, and cut energy costs. Information and tips from the guide will be available at the event on Friday 5th, and a number of local companies will also be on hand to demonstrate the energy efficient products and renewable energy technologies mentioned in the guide, that are available on-island. All members of the public are invited to come along to what should be a fun and informative evening, to find out what they can do to reduce their office energy footprint, and also how they can transfer these ideas to the home. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Sophie Halford at sophie.halford@gov.ky .
